Tracy Strycker on being a stylist


When did you know you wanted to be a Stylist? When I was a very little girl I loved styling my dolls. It eventually transitioned to family and friends. My mother had a Salon so I was around it all of the time.

What did you do to become a stylist? I went to a hairstyling school and shampooed hair etc. during the evenings and at night. My first shop had in house training as well as training in as some of the best schools.

How long have you been in this business? Ever since high school 35+ years When did you create Salon Allegra? Since 2001, 16 years ago.

What memorable moments do you have during your Stylist career? When I became a barber and eventually expanded to hair removal, ash tinting, and brow tinting.

What do you do to keep the Salon Fresh and exciting for clientele? Keeping a balanced life makes all of the difference in the world. I am also very fit and eat healthy. I travel for pleasure and like to take courses, go to trade shows, and visit salons/barbershops in various countries around the world. This in turn inspires me to keep my hairstyling fresh and exciting!

What do you love most about your Salon and being a stylist? What is the most challenging? I love being my own boss. Clients inspire me and I learn a lot from them. I’m so happy with my career choice. I have very little challenges because I go with the flow. I also enjoy getting to know my clients, who are from all different ages, and walks of life.

What are the benefits of having your salon at home? My neighbours and clients that live close by love to walk, skateboard, cycle or drive over. It’s in a wonderful community which is a benefit in itself. I’m all about community.
