No one likes the look of white flakes on their shoulders, and we aren't talking snow. Dandruff can affect all ages, but there are ways to prevent and treat this dusty issue. Understand there are different types of dandruff, with different causes. Some can be treated with shampoos and oils, while others need medical intervention. Here are some tips to help deal with Dandruff:

  • Eat well. Drink plenty of water. It is an easy place to start. Eat foods rich in vitamins A, B and C.

  • Wash your hairbrushes regularly. This will not only keep your brushes clean, but also get rid of any germs. Sit your brushes in warm water mixed with dish soap or vinegar.

  • Ask your stylist about salon treatments that are available to help remove excess oil and buildup.

  • You may need a special shampoo designed for treating dandruff. Zinc is a necessary ingredient. These shampoos are made to soothe, hydrate and moisturize, as well as get rid of flakes.
